“After hundreds of pens and pieces of paper, and hours spent practising, a small hobby has turned into a big dream.”

a little bit about me...

This is me, Amy and little old me created Amy Writes.

Once I started hand lettering I soon realised I needed to dream big and make my hobby a business!

Amy Writes was created in 2018, producing hand lettered prints for friends and family. Once I had bought an Apple iPad, I started producing a collection of greeting cards and prints and set up my own website. Within a few months I was posting orders all over the UK.

In January 2021 an Etsy shop was born which gave me the opportunity to show my products to many more people and gave me the confidence to design and produce more products including notepads and stickers. Thanks to a Cricut I was able to launch a sticker range, create bespoke cake toppers and so much more.

I received a message from a Thortful scout in August 2021 asking if I would like to sell my cards on their website. I couldn’t believe that someone had approached me and thought my cards were good enough for sell on Thortful! I jumped at the chance and uploaded selected cards which are selling well! The next step is to create an exclusive collection and see what happens!

2022 was a busy year of designing a new collection, bringing out a tote bag as well as re-designing my entire website and logo! I am so proud of everything I achieved within 2022 and looking forward to launching even more in 2023.

Meet My Fluffy Assistant!

This cutie is Connie. We were lucky enough to give her a forever home and thanks to Cats Protection she is now part of our family. If you follow me on Instagram you would’ve seen her a lot on my stories! She loves to sleep, play, eat a lot and sit on my chair watching the world go by. I’m pretty sure she is the best thing in the world and I can’t imagine my life without her. She keeps me company whilst running my business but is also a massive distraction! If you don’t follow my Instagram page already you really should, she is great entertainment!

No More Plastic

When Amy Writes was born, the main goal was to make sure there was zero plastic within our packaging. After a lot of research over the past few years, we have found some brilliant, fellow small businesses that now provide Amy Writes with compostable bags, recycled logo stickers and recyclable packaging.

The card used for our greeting cards and wall prints is FSC approved and our envelopes are recycled Kraft card. When designing new products, our main goal is to always make sure that the materials used are as eco friendly as can be.

Wildflower Seeded Card

In 2022, we launched Mother’s Day cards that were printed onto Wildflower Seeded card. They can be ripped up, placed into a plant pot with soil and eventually bloom into beautiful flowers.

They were so popular that an option to use Wildflower Seeded card was added to the entire card collection. You now have the option to choose between 300gsm Smooth White card or Wildflower Seeded card when ordering your greeting cards.

We love the fact that you can send a card to your favourite person and they can then plant it and watch as it blooms into a beautiful bunch of wildflowers!

stockists

You can also purchase our greeting cards in three local shops around Dorset. It has been a pleasure to create beautiful relationships with these small businesses and Amy Writes is proud to be on the shelves within their shops.
